Log Cabin ENE

vincent.larochelle, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

We skied on the north-east, more towards the east side of Log Cabin, and dug a quick pit just above the cut-line near the parking lot just to see what was happening. We got no results. There is about 5-10cm of heavy snow on a 4 cm crust, then more crusts, all bad reminders of this year's horrible conditions. The pack was generally well bonded, didn't notice any shear failures in our pit. The top snow started off as heavy-ish powder, that was quite sticky. There were strong winds blowin' south, maybe west, or a bit of both. The snow pack changed quite a lot in the space of 30-40 minutes, turning slabbier as time passed. We did some laps just above the dense trees, then skied in the open trees and called it a day. Lots of wind, still no melt-freeze except in the parking lot...
