Log Cabin

We had a great day on Log Cabin yesterday. Oddly, there was soft snow right to the top, which is quite a rarity - about ten centimeters that was uniform in depth from the parking lot to the summit. The day was windless and warm, and the snow did not show any evidence of wind affect or of ongoing transport from one area to another. As we moved up the mountain, the underlying snow surface hardened progressively, with things getting quite hard by mid-mountain. From there to the top, you could feel the hard surfaces beneath the soft new snow. From mid-mountain down, things were soft. The upper riding was good, but the lower riding was excellent. We did not experience any whoomphing or other signs of instability, nor did we see any evidence of recent avalanche activity.
