Consistent moderate to strong northerly winds. Snow plums on the high peaks and light saltation at lower elevations. Snowpack
Wind sheltered northerly and east facing slopes were still providing good skiing. Snow surfaces were skiing fast with a mix of facets and surface hoar. The mid-pack slab is still suportable to boots while ski pen is somewhere around 15cm. We skied steep terrain without any obvious signs of instablity. We traveled on old skin tracks and there were many other old ski tracks in the area.
An ECT test on an ENE-facing slope at 10,600ft produced a moderate propagating result below the Christmass Crust in 2mm facets. Isolating the crust may be leading to a false unstable results. Or, it is highlighting the isolated potential. There were many tracks in this terrain. .
