Our tears were not brought on by the Onion itself but from the rainfall to 1800m or more.
We did a small loop around the Onion zone on the look out for recent avalanche activity with this rapid warming.
We observed numerous wet loose slides out of steep terrain on all aspects and a size 1 wet slab avalanche on a north facing slope at tree line. Goggle wipers would have been nice as we rode through what could only be described as a summer rain storm.
Moderate gusting to strong SW winds had no effect on the saturated snow but had the rain drops coming at us horizontally giving our gear a proper water proof testing.
+4 at the cabin and the rain on the tin roof had us primed for a fire and a nap but seeing as its the warmest day of the year up there we refrained from burning any wood and called it a day.
