Avalanche Information
Loose wet avalanches that likely occurred this past weekend were seen on steep south-facing slopes above treeline in Ophir and above Telluride. On very steep (40 degrees) north-facing slopes below treeline, I was able to easily trigger small Loose Dry avalanches, which flushed the entire snowpack down the mountain. These avalanches were small but ran fast and would be a bummer to get hit by or carried into a terrain trap.
Weather
Blue sky and sunny with no clouds. There was a little wind this morning from the southwest, but calmed down mid-morning. Temperatures rose above freezing by mid-morning as well. Winds picked up again in the afternoon with strong gusts.
