I observed a few older natural avalanches that likely failed around 1/25.
Weather
Warm day with some high thin clouds.
Snowpack
The recent avalanche I investigated failed on a layer of facets below the slab. There was a remnant crust that provided a good sliding layer, and some unbelievably large, weak depth hoar below it.
