Another nice AST 1 field day! We were out in the Prairie Backcountry again today. The temperature inversion is breaking down, and with that we had cooler temps around -6C with a light easterly wind. There was no new precip, and cloud cover increased in the afternoon.
The melt-freeze crust is starting to breakdown / facet out, making the riding and travel slightly improved from Saturday despite increased cloud and cool temps. We did dig a profile at 1650 m on an east aspect. No notable layers and we did not find moist snow in the snowpack.
We primarily traveled between 1450 m - 1650 m.
No avalanches observed.
