- <p>No red flags except on shallow west facing slope at around 8400' off the south ridge, where I could easily stick my pole through shallow weak snow to the ground. Where the snow is shallow and temperatures cold, weak snow continues to develop at the base of the snowpack.</p>
I found very solid snow down lower, where the hard snow was deeper. In these areas the weakest snow is on the surface. Where the snowpack is shallower sugary faceted grains can be found, and with this cold dry weather they are growing...
