- Rapid Warming, Poor Snowpack Structure
The snow pack is getting really thin even at higher elevations and as temperatures increased we did see some roller balls on south west aspects. The structure of the snow pack on the northern facing aspects has strong structure except for the top 6 inches which has become faceted sitting on a hard ice layer. The very top has a thin crust that breaks in sheets on slightly sun baked slopes. The top 6 inches will likely be a very week layer if/when it's loaded by new snow fall.
