We experienced near constant collapsing and cracking while skinning through about 12 inches of fresh snow. Throughout the ski descent our skis would often dive down into the bottomless faceted layers and we would be skiing hip deep. It was very easy to affect the entire snowpack and while skiing through small pockets of near 30 degree angle we would see the entire slope crack and break up as if it wanted to avalanche. The only thing stopping it was the lack of steepness in the slope.

We saw natural avalanches in the storm snow on North and East aspects on Snodgrass and Gothic. Anywhere nearing or exceeding 30 degrees was cracked or had slid. We did not see any evidence of avalanches stepping down into the existing faceted snow.
