Tenderfoot

We found a picnic table with a perfect snowpack on top. We performed an ECT on the table and got ECTP14, the slab at that elevation doesn't have any cohesion, so it broke apart (see photo). Below treeline we experienced many large collapses, the snowpack structure below treeline in Summit is very weak. We carefully toured up to 2700 ft, traveling one at a time in the mellow avalanche terrain we traveled in. We had shooting cracks on unsupported corners of the skin track that shot 10-15ft in areas that had seen wind. At 2700ft we dug a pit on a W aspect and got ECTN13 on the facets below the first crust, there was not a cohesive slab on top of the snowpack at this location. HS was 110cm and there was approximately 12" of new snow at this location. The snowpack at 2700 feet was cohesive and pulled off in one giant block below the facets and new snow (see picture).
