S-1 for the majority of the day with pulses of S1 Around 4:30 pm, storm intensity increased to S2 while we were flailing with sleds.
Snowpack
Anywhere we found wind stiffened snow on convexities, small soft slabs were easy to trigger. The slabs got easier to trigger below Blue Lake because the recently buried surface hoar survived. We didn’t experience any instabilities with weak layers buried deeper in the snowpack.

5 small skier triggered wind slabs. All <D1 in size. Slow moving and easy to manage. Crowns heights ranged from 3”- 8”. The avalanche around 11,700’ failed on top of P hard wind board. Just great for our ski run. The rest of the soft slabs we triggered were below Blue Lake, failing on surface hoar that was buried last night.
