West facing slopes had a similar surface snowpack setup, but with the top crust being much harder (yet still unsupportable) and able to grab you.
Snowpack
Snow surace was a mixture of different crusts topped with a thin layer of wind blown and faceting snow. Surface crusts ranged from supportable to breakable to decomposed(ing). The sun seemed intesnse and to be having its way with the surface snow early today as the SW facing, lower angle surface crust was mostly decomposed on descent around 1100.
