Beehive Basin

AAI Pro 1 to Beehive Basin. On the ascent up the ridge next to the Going Home Chute, we observed 10-20cm thick drifts. On small test slopes, we had localized cracking and a few small collapses. The students dug pits on the ridge between Beehive and Bear Basin, at about 9100-9200' on E and SE aspects near the Prayer Flags, Spanky's and in Science Bowl. HS in all of the pits was about 100-110cm. 2 of 17 pits had propagation, one down 10cm on NSF below the new snow and the other about 45cm down on facets below a crust. Otherwise pit results were unremarkable and the entire snowpack is mostly made up of facets ranging from P to F hard with a few crusts mixed in. HN was about 10-20cm.
