Quick report
Rode Cooke City today, from round lake, through Mutt and Jeff, around Sheep, and into Daisy. Saw evidence of wind loading and wind transported snow, saw no avalanches breaking in the recent wind loaded snow from last night (2-3in of fresh which had been drifted into 8in slabs in some areas). No cracking or collapsing on small test slopes. Wind light to moderate out of the south/southwest, with a couple short flurries of very light snow coming down, amounting to maybe an inch throughout the day. Broken clouds and intermittent sun, with temps not climbing above freezing in the upper elevations. Trees were holding snow nicely, but open slopes were definitely getting scoured. We avoided avalanche terrain, but saw some midwesterners hammering some high marks on miller, abundance, even some on the NNE face of Crown Butte, with no evidence of cracking or slides in the wind transported snow. Stability seemed pretty good honestly, but im sure that will change in the next few days with snow and wind in the forecast.
