Quick report
I traveled to Rescue Creek to assess snow coverage and note debris piles from this season.
- The old Highway 2 road access is nearly melted out. The Rescue Creek hiking trail has discontinuous snow, making skiing prohibitive.
- As expected, the lower basin is choked with alder and offers few snowbridge options for crossing Rescue Creek.
- There were no debris piles that reached the valley floor in the lower basin. This includes the two massive N and NE-facing paths off Nyack Mountain and the handful of mid-elevation SE-facing paths. This is unfortunate because the brush remains exposed, impacting the spring ski season in this drainage.
- Due to low clouds and poor lighting, I am uncertain of the extent of debris piles and snow coverage in the upper basin. What little I could identify was unimpressive.

Light rain fell throughout the tour. Clouds obscured the terrain above 6000 feet. Winds remained at elevation and had not mixed down to the valley floor, as they often do in this drainage.
