We enjoyed good (but cold) skiing at upper elevations in the Flathead today. The snow was not wind effected, even at ridge tops. 
 Our chief concern right now is the snowpack structure, especially on shady, north slopes in the alpine where the weak layers close to the ground are more developed. Since we are still in “assessment mode”, and getting to know the young snowpack in a variety of locations, we are still staying away from more committing riding.
