Quick report
Took a loop from Marion over to S Fork Dickey Creek via north facing terrain. Overall, minimal signs of wind transport along the length of repeater ridge and onward, which was notable. As we gained elevation along the ridge, we observed a subtle surface crust that grew from ~1 mm to ~1 inch depth. Assuming this was largely related to sun/warming yesterday. We also moved in and out of a thin surface hoar depending on aspect that potentially developed under last night’s cloud layer. Cornice formation at our highpoint is coming along, but relatively minimal considering the amount of snow out there to be redistributed. Started our descent at around 7100 ft and were suprised to find the crust develop into more of a proper zipper as we descended into S Dickey. Not enough to effect riding, but certainly notable. Weather was mostly cloudy, but we did catch some sun at the top of our line and were greeted with nice views of southern GNP and Great Northern. Minimal wind.
