Cooney Creek

 Went to get a closer look at the local glide crack hoping to catch some actions.  Was not disappointed. 

• Found several more glide cracks on slopes facing SE, S and SW above 6500'.
• Witnessed one glide avalanche.
• Lots of natural avalanche activity on slopes facing S, SW and W from 3 pm to 5 pm.
• Most activity was loose wet, a small percentage were slabs.
• Several collapses on southerly slopes above 7000' probably on one of several layers of wet facets. 
• At 7500'  snowpack was dry on E, N, NW but glazed with thin crust. S was wet from top to bottom.
• Travel through low elevations was heinous. Semi supportable crust on the ascent and a hot mess on the descent. 

I stuck to low angle slopes and skied defensively.

• Hs = 230cm
• ECTN 13 down 30 cm 
• Thin crust at the surface with dry snow below
• No obvious weak layers in the top 100cm

@7500 S, whumpf

• HS = 90 cm
• Wet from top to bottom
• Layers of wet facets down 20cm, 40cm and at the ground
