Quick report
- Collapsing
- isolated
Traveled for a Christmas day tour east of WMR. We received coal in the stocking as a gift skiing on Fried Chicken. We heard an audible collapse of the snowpack. Digging a pit adjacent to the collapse yielded an ECTP5 20cm down on a thin layer of facets above a melt-freeze crust. This was on a SW aspect as middle elevations, not in the forecast this AM. While this may be isolated, it is a good reminder to keep your ears and eyes open and be curious to what's beneath your feet. We changed our original plan for the day to ski steeper terrain in the Chicken Bones area after this result.
