Quick report
Went out to BT today. Ended up in Pucker, there were about 9 folks who rode it today (2 other parties plus us). It wasn't looking too great from below on the approach, a HUGE overhanging cornice above the riders right alternate entrance broke off and slid the whole line sometime yesterday afternoon. We were looking at the line at about 12:30 PM yesterday from Ball Butte and the cornice hadn't broken at that time, so it must have happened sometime after that yesterday. However there were still some smooth panels adjacent to the huge runnels from the cornice slide, and in those areas the snow was actually great corn. It's going pretty fast though, I can't believe how much has melted in the past few weeks... I included some pics of the cornice slide, as well as some recent pics from a couple other times I was up there a few weeks ago for comparison and for reference on how huge that cornice was. In the comparison pic from 4/3, you can see the huge overhanging cornice that broke off just to lookers left of where I dropped in. In the comparison pic from 4/9, that's the big overhanging cornice just left of the tip of my board. Also in a COAC-related twist, that's my buddy Alex Kollar in the pic (RIP), whom the COAC scholarship is named after, he still comes with me in my pocket on every trip. Also in a COAC-unrelated twist, it turns out dead branches work pretty well for missing poles in a pinch (ask me how I know). One of those was still sitting there by the sled parking today. :)
