Quick report

Toured from Center Ridge parking lot to Tincan Common. Alder hazards were abundant at lower elevations. Well-worn hardpack skin tracks. Tincan Common and much of the "normal" ski paths were heavily tracked. Found some excellent pockets of soft snow scattered throughout our tour. Overall fun skiing. No significant signs of instability noted.

Weather

Cloud cover increased throughout the day. Snow flurries started to fall around 3:45 PM. Cold with light ridgetop winds.

Snowpack

Early-season shallow snowpack. Firm consolidated snow overlayed by 4-6 inches of loose, cold, dry, granular. Well-developed surface hoar to tree line. Small test slopes and hand pits were unreactive. Modest cornice along the ridge with several large blocks that either fell naturally or were kicked off.
