Quick report
I ventured up Convict Creek for the first time this season. Travel up and down the morraine is doable but incredibly cumbersome, anyway you choose to do it. This zone is absolutely wind hammered. Surfaces were variable - punchy, unsupportable, breakable rain crust or old wind slab were common. Some surfaces were bulletproof, others dry. I found that the snow pack differed in height and structure dependent on micro climates. Walking on dry land with my split on my back was faster and easier for most of my travel purposes today. I observed minimal natural wind slab activity from the most recent storm/wind event.

Today was a clear, calm, warm day. There was a slight wind chill from variable light winds above 10K.
Snowpack
- Rain crust below 9000' ish. Breakable, and unsupported snowpack (still shallow amidst rocks, bushes, etc.)
- N and E 10000' - pencil to knife hard wind deposits up to 30 cm deep over a very thin crust. This sits atop 4F rounding facets/faceting rounds. I saw both.
- All test results unreactive.
- Distribution of wind drifts and wind scoured areas is sporadic.
- Most loading NTL/mid slope.
- HS 0 - 140 cm
