High winds along the ridge that leads to the summit. The cornice on the approach to the top of 6996 was very sensitive and broke off while standing five feet from the edge. The southerly facing bowl near the top of Sub Shields was very wind affected. It appears that the wind had blown in several directions over the past few days as wind loading was occurring in areas where it normally doesn't. The ski down the big run was "slabby". I witnessed one collapse where wind loading was occurring on a ridge. I experienced snowpack cracking in a similar location. These were both isolated incidents.
