Snowbowl Upper Bowl Catwalk

Quick report

I skinned up the upper bowl catwalk to Larry’s Line; Big Bowl area and the Whale are very rocky, areas of the Shiprocks and Sundance have some old snow in the start zones. Shaded areas have up to 2 feet of snow. Some spots had the knife-hard early season crust on the surface but most areas were covered by the 11/07 storm snow. I dug a pit uphill of the cat walk in 60cms on a WNW aspect and found poor structure, moderate strength, and propagation on depth hoar below the melt freeze crust.
