Quick report
Mostly bare ground in the Mt Emma zone. Where there is snow, it is shallow and sugary. We postholed through a few drifts and the snow was faceted and weak, the snow gave way quickly underfoot. We were looking for a few stiffer slivers of wind-blown snow but did not find any on our way up to Emma Lake. Overall we do not have enough usable snow in this area to safely use our snow sliding tools. From HWY 395, or from a satellite view it looks like there is a bit more coverage than there is. The snow that is out there is only a few inches deep and is not supportable, we could feel every stump and rock along the hike.
