Lots of hangfire, so wasn't able to get close to the crown or the bed surface, but was able to look on the same aspect in gentle terrain above the crown. The 1F slab on top of the depth hoar seems to have been from recent westerly wind events. Typical hard slab setup, with strong slab on top of very weak depth hoar. These can be remotely triggered from thinner spots in the snowpack.
