clearly wind affected snowpack. snowpack was locally reactive on north aspect (cracks and whumpfing) within the more recent storm layers but also at the deeper crust over basal facets. although the snowpack layering was relatively consistent on n&e aspects, the east aspects were not as reactive (no whumpfing or cracking). warm sunny conditions on the most eastern aspects softened the windboard. what snow remained on south aspects does seem to be transitioning. Experienced localized superficial and deep cracks and whumpfing on low angle north aspects. these signs of instability did not persist on ne aspects, although the snow profile was similar.

ne aspect ~9500ft. variable snow height 20-100cm. surface varied from powder to firm windboard. typically new snow and storm snow (10-50cm, F) over a pencil hard crust (~10cm) over basal facets (5-20cm, F). occasionally an ice layer below facets (3cm). handpit failed on isolation on planar surface between storm slabs.
