Quick report
While skinning up the glacial moraine before sunrise we observed a 3in superficial refreeze with wet snow festering below, making for challenging uphill travel. Encountered multiple large, wet avalanches with sizable debris piles exposing an icy, knife hard bed surface underneath. From our vantage point, the entire panhandle and majority of the upper Skillet glacier had warmed and avalanched after yesterday's high temps and direct solar influence. We did not stick around for things to warm up and started our decent soon after sunrise.
