New snow accumulation on Mount Leidy was averaging 4 inches at 9500'. We dug a pit on an easterly slope at this elevation and found soft snow atop a denser 10-inch slab. The November layer of the snowpack appears to have transitioned towards depth hoar. Our tests showed an ECTN24, which failed on the top of the November layer. While in the area, the skies were generally clear. Occasional impulses of snow would appear, then quickly dissipate to blue sky again. Temperatures remained cold through the day; we recorded 13F at 9500' in the afternoon. Overall, the snowpack appears fairly stable, but conditions could change rapidly with the coming storms. Coverage is improving throughout the trail systems in this area. While low-elevation snow accumulations were near 2 inches, it was enough snow to refresh some of the dry trails for better riding conditions. Trails are still thin in many spots with rocks and logs lurking just below the fresh snow.
