I remotely triggered a large avalanche (D2.5) from ~40 ft away in flat terrain when I was walking towards the top of Triple Direct. The avalanche started on a steep rocky convexity, propagated ~350 ft across the slope, and ran down the path called the "Butt Crack" in Turiano's Book. I did not see the avalanche initiate or feel a collapse, but I knew I had triggered something when I heard a loud noise that sounded like wind and the snapping of trees. Things are touchy right now. Remote triggering is possible. Warm temperatures and sun tomorrow will not help stability in the short term.
Observed old avalanches on Edelweiss, Moose Brush, The Do-Its, and Windy Ridge on the approach. Experienced several collapses.Weather

Above freezing temps and low clouds adding a nice greenhouse effect.
Snowpack
The snowpack is undergoing a period of rapid change. Above freezing temps at 9,000’ have moistened much of the pack. I was able to make a snowball out of all the snow I touched today including facets. The top centimeter of the pack is wet. A several millimeter thick ice crust was present on all open surfaces that we traveled through today.
