Cheops, top of Hourglass

jpulwicki, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

We had good enough visibility to see some of the recent natural avalanche activity in connaught creek. Frequent flyer, dispatchers bowl and Bruins ridge all had recent large slab avalanches. We also dug a pit at the top of Hourglass in a wind-sheltered spot. Easy (2 wrist tap) result 50cm down and a hard result (2nd shoulder tap) 110cm down. Both sudden planar releases, indicating slab development during the past week's storms.
