Skied around Black Prince area. Was cool (-7C) all day. Winds picked up quite a by mid morning. Snow was great with deep dry snow and little wind effect. About 5 cm fresh stuff from early morning squall. We noted two avalanches. One major (sz 2?) on a steep but skiable slope; crown was over 1 m tall and scrubbed to ground (first picture shows slope of slide). This occurred before the last storm cycle since fresh snow has started to fill it in a bit (maybe even two - possible it happened pre Xmas?). Smaller avalanche in very steep terrain happened since last storm, appeared to be shallow (<20cm) wind slab. Both on south aspect (second photo shows both in red). Facet layer about 1 m down seemed reactive at all aspects and elevations we tested, from about 1700 m to over 2350 m. Definitely wanted to avoid anything steep or exposed. Snow quality was exceptional in the trees.
