Quick Observation

Some great snow out there but slopes with solar exposure are warming up and getting suncrusts, saw some light pinwheeling as well. Protected slopes holding heavier but good quality powder, ski pen approx 30cm and foot pen around 50.

Avalanche Information

Ski cut top of North facing chute with no result. Dropped in and the whole chute pulled out with crown about 2m below the ski cut. Was able to ski off slab to safety in the trees. Slab depth 20-40cm, bed surface was quite soft and appeared to be a storm interface rather than facets or surface hoar. Dug a pit on an adjacent slope after and had CTM11 SP down 25 and an ECTN13 with more of a progressive compression result, no propagation beyond the edge of the shovel. No whomphing or shooting cracks on skin up or on previous ski run but a nearby slope did have a natural that appeared to have run during Saturday's storm.
