Emerald Flake

Skied Emerald Lake slide path. Bottom third was hard pack with light dusting on top, 400-850m up was about 5-10cm of loose powderish snow on top of hard crust. Dug a pit just before leaving treeline and had a pop on ECT 5 and propagated on ECT 11 about 25 cm down. Clean, planar break on crust. That combined with large cornices on the ridge on climbers left was enough for us to turn around. Skiing varied from passable to terrible.
