More snow than expected in parking lot. We broke trail along the summer trail. Ski pen 25cm minimum. The day started off colder but as we gained elevation throughout the day, the temp increased to -2 and we observed moist surface snow on north and south aspects.

Observed what seemed to be a slab avalanche on steep alpine slope of neighbouring peak SW of Bow lake. It stopped on an open steep slope that remained untriggered at the base of the face.

Cloud coverage varies from overcast in the morning and evening with period broken clouds mid day. Clear sign of snow melting snow from the tree tops.

Performed several hand shear teats while travelling. Mix results from none to moderate planar breaks on facets located between 25-35cm down.
