Quick Observation
Skiing in the Black Prince area. Noticed whumpfing and cracking on the uptrack around 2200m. There is a 25cm somewhat consolidated slab overlying facets to ground. We could easily release it once we cut it out on skin track corners. We dropped a cornice onto an east facing run and released the slab. It did not release as easily on a ski cut. Below 2200m in the forest snow was about 60cm of facets to ground. We skied reloaded avalanche debris back to valley bottom which was supportive until the bottom of the run out, then punched through facets easily.
