Very light snowfall started around 10am. SW winds were gale force, but had light blowing snow due to limited amounts of snow available for transport.
Snowpack
The snowpack in the Tamarack Peak area remains shallow, weak, and variable. On many northerly aspects, the snowpack is less than 1 foot deep and made up of weak faceted snow top to bottom. In other areas, some wind blown snow along with old crusts exist with a slightly deeper snowpack. These crusts are faceting and decomposing in some of these areas. Currently, limited locations have any sort of slab on top of this weak snowpack structure. That is starting to change as this series of storms begins to impact our region.
