Carson Pass near Frog Lake

Skinned on Carson Pass today out towards Frog Lake. We found soft surface snow conditions of near surface facets near and below treeline. Winds were light from the East in our area but we could see blowing snow on Elephant's Back. We noticed a couple of impressive old crowns near Roundtop and the Sisters. We dug a pit at 8800' near Frog Lake to look at the 1/1 rain crust. Height of snow in this area was 205cms with 10 cms of fist hard near surface facets on top.
