Quick report
The snow in the center and skiers left of the gully(southwest facing) was firm; skied to the skiers right of the gully(southeast facing) to ski softer snow. The snow was a lot softer than expect and cut back to the other side of the gully. The slope angle was greater than 30 degrees. Overall impression is that the snow on the southeast aspect at 10:35am was soft and wet.
Avalanche
Skied the south facing gully between Round Top Peak and the Sisters. The snow at the top was firm and was also firm on skiers left of the gully (facing south west). At 10:35am 3/17/2024 about halfway down the gully a we loose D1 avalanche was triggered, no one was caught. Estimated elevation is 8900ft, southeast facing, crown was about 15ft and a couple of inches deep.
