I made the mistake of descending into a terrain trap (a gully) because of bad visibility. I coasted to a stop and realized the predicament we were in during a brief clearing. Right as we were discussing whether to backtrack out or proceed the 30 yards to safer terrain, the ravine side uphill of me skiers right slid down and buried me up to my waist, immediately followed by another wave which buried me to my rib cage. The crown was 12” of snow from today’s storm. I was able to self extricate and we back tracked out of the gully. A few isolated shooting cracks of a few feet observed during tour on several aspects.
