Pea Gravel Ridge

A solid overnight refreeze left widespread firm surfaces around Newton Canyon and Pea Gravel Ridge. The only meaningful soft snow I observed was on solar aspects as the sun softened surfaces as the morning progressed. I found decent corn skiing by 11 am on solars while N/E aspects stayed cold and locked up. I stuck to the ridge and only dropped solars as they softened, but ski/boot crampons and an axe would be necessary for any steep N/E aspects that harbor slide-for-life surfaces. 

There's very minimal snow available for transport and very few pockets of wind-drifted snow below 7000 ft. Any existing pockets were generally stubborn or unreactive. 

With good overnight refreezes I haven't been too concerned about wet loose activity at this point, but there are a few hanging chunks of snow on rock slabs and glide cracks to consider in select areas. 

Pray for snow. We need it.
