Quick report
A 6-12" layer of fist hard near surface facets are maintaining decent riding conditions near and above treeline. A surface crust <1cm thick exists on some solar aspects, decreasing with elevation. Texture from old windslabs is apparent near ridge lines approaching 7500', but these slabs were unreactive.
We rode slopes up to 40 deg on W and E aspects with no loose or slab avalanches triggered.

Clear days with temps dropping on Friday. Winds generally Calm to Light and no blowing snow observed at ridge lines or recent wind transport.
Snowpack
Boot penetration around 15cm in most locations, but up to 30cm of facets in sheltered meadows above 7000'.
Around 7000' on multiple aspects, height of snow averaged 290cms. At 6900' N, surface hoar (SH) on the surface had been knocked down above a thin wind skin. However, a well defined stripe of SH 1cm thick was preserved upright just below that (see photo). This combination of layered surface hoar may exist in many locations and explains why it is suddenly harder to spot intact on the surface.
