Quick report
I dug a pit at 8,100 feet on an almost straight north aspect on a 21 degree slope.. Snowpack depth was 175cm. On both the shovel tilt test and the compression test the snow pack failed about 25cm deep on what appears to be the snow from the 1/10/24 storm. Compression test failed at 20 with a Q2. New snow seems to be consolidating in a slab. I did not find the buried surface hoar from January 2. I skied slopes in 28 degree range. Skiing was great. I did not spot any signs of instability.
