Beauty of a day in the Broot, we skied back towards main gash with intentions of skiing into Sweathouse. Clear skies and light winds gave the day a spring like feel down low, with a few inches of pow on firm until we got up to 7k or so, where the pow got deeper. We noted some wind depositions on NE aspects directly below the ridge lines, notably on gash nob. We dug on a North aspect at about 8200, just above the first roll over on our intended ski run. Total snow depth was 220cm. We were only worried about the new snow from 2/9 and on so we dug 90 cm down and performed two ECT tests and received similar results both times- ECT N 12 down 30 cm on the new/old interface from 2/18, with no propogation either time, shovel shear didn’t get anything to pop either. Since the January Dry Spell, we measured 70 cm of new snow, the snow is right side up and skiing really well where it isn’t wind affected. As the wind affect was not present at our location, we felt good about skiing the big path down into Sweathouse.
