Collapsing
specific

Skied low angle terrain off the NE side of Genoa Peak on 1/19. Warm temps and increasing wind throughout the day. Not much snow available for transport on windward aspects. Enjoyable skiing on supportable snow surface with 2-3 inches of soft cold snow above ~8,500’, transitioning to 2-3 inches of wet surface snow down to ~8,100’ where snow became unsupportable and sticky. Observed many whumpfs and a couple visible snowpack collapses on our ascent between about 8,600’ and our high point of 8,900’. Dug to investigate and found the January 2 PWL still alive and reactive in this area. Performed two ECTs on a NE aspect at 8,760’ which resulted in ECTP14 and ECTP11, both at 45 cm. HS in this location was 90 cm.
