Quick report
There were a fair amount of tree bombs on the first 2 miles of the trail. Some left 18in diameter craters in the snow. They tapered off as you went higher. Saw only 2 rollerballs on the Upper trail, but less tree droppings. Snow was very dry, deep and seemed unconsolidated. Didn’t have time to do a column test, but the depth at the base of the chute was 135cm. The first 80-90cm went in very easy, hit the refreeze crust, after punching through with 2 jabs, the remaining 40cm had more resistance than the top.
