Quick report
Observed cold dry snow with surface hoar forming at lower elevations at the start of our day. Snow was consistently cold up until around 5,400', where we encountered variable inversion-affected snow, forming a thin trap crust in some places. Active snow started later in our day and caused things to warm up and start softening. Dug a quick pit at 5,500' on a west facing 36° slope. Total depth measured: 105cm. Top layer 74cm-105cm (F hardness) bonded quite well to an ice layer 73cm-74cm. Performed a CT with result CTN.
Avalanche
Observed debris field for a small wet loose avalanche, W slopes (angle ~36°) at 5,600ft. Time-wise a few days old during latest inversion.
