Quick report

Knife hard snow, runnels, and occasional spots of breakable crust. Wanted to check the snow depth and levels around Paradise. Stopped at Naruda falls to see if there was an easy route up to the road to Castle Peak left. There wasn't enough snow to climb the face, and the snow in the trees would be nigh on unskiable. You'd have to hike. Microspikes would be the better tool for the forested areas. Went up to Paradise and skied up and over Alta Vista just to check the snow levels before skinning out to the point above Edith Basin. We brought out the ski crampons and whippets just in case. But we managed to skin without using either. Low snow hazards were everywhere it would have been charitable to call it ice skating. Found sections near trees with little trappy-bits of breakable crust left. We then just traversed the high side of the bowl to ski out. Would have been a better day for bird watching.
