We saw no signs of instability or avalanches today, although visibility was limited. The winds were picking up, stiffening the snow surface and quickly filling in our tracks.

Snowpack
Below 7200', there is 5cm of new snow, which was wet and heavy. As we moved up in elevation, we saw upwards of 10cm of new, much drier snow. There was a temperature crust below the new snow that disappeared at 8500' and up on north aspects. Winds were picking up and forming a wind skin in some spots.
We dug a pit on a north aspect at 8500', which produced ECTP29 on the 2/8 weak layer 55cm down from the surface and an ECTX.
Overall, there was less new snow than we anticipated in this area.
